Which airflow style creates the cleanest paint job?
Pressurized downdraft airflow provides the cleanest paint jobs in a spray booth.
Pressurized paint booths keep the cabin of the spray booth at a positive pressure, so no outside contaminants can make their way through a leaky seam or seal for dirt or dust to enter.
Downdraft airflow does an excellent job controlling overspray and contamination. Air enters the booth through a filtered ceiling plenum and flows vertically over the product and into the filtered exhaust pit in the floor.
Semi-downdraft and crossdraft airflows are not as conducive to achieving the cleanest paint jobs, as drips and overspray can contaminate components down the airstream. With these airflow styles, it is crucial to select the right reducer to optimize paint flow resulting in even, professional coats.
